Joseon — A dynasty that existed on the Korean Peninsula; in 1392, it was founded by Yi Seonggye on the basis of on Neo-Confucian ideals after he had overthrown the Goryeo Dynasty and relocated the capital to Hanyang; it fell in 1910 after having been deprived of its sovereignty by Japan.
