chobok — The first of the three dog days of summer, days of midsummer heat around the 6th and 7th months of the lunar calendar; on this day, to avoid the heat, some people go to a mountain stream to play in the water while others eat nutritious foods like samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) to beat the heat.
초복에서 말복까지의 기간은 일 년 중 가장 더운 때로 이 시기를 삼복(三伏)이라 하며, 이때의 더위를 삼복더위라 부른다.
